Big caterpillar

We have found a caterpillar marching across our driveway. It is big. Really big. With white specks along the side (like windows on a plane) and a distinctive dot at the tail end. You can see mom's finger to give an idea of side.
Any ideas what this is? If you scale up, a moth the size of a dove ought to come out of it!

Let's have our skies back!

I read about the possible cutbacks of low cost airlines due to rising fuels costs, and all I can say is it will be nice to have the sky back, instead of the clear blue cross-crossed with airplane trails, as shown in the picture below:

Today's word...

Today's word is placid (plah-sid); which means cool, collected, easy-going, mild, peaceful, serene, unruffled; I can say that I have a placid temperament for 99% of the time - which was something of a necessity when working as a Care Assistant!

As of February 2025, commenting is no longer available to UK residents, following the implementation of the vague and overly broad Online Safety Act. You must tick the box below to verify that you are not a UK resident, and you expressly agree if you are in fact a UK resident that you will indemnify me (Richard Murray), as well as the person maintaining my site (Rob O'Donnell), the hosting providers, and so on. It's a shitty law, complain to your MP.
It's not that I don't want to hear from my British friends, it's because your country makes stupid laws.
