April...Fish?

In France, the tradition of April Fool is as prevalent as elsewhere in the world. Only, they call it "poisson d'Avril", which translates as April fish. So there you go.

HeyRick did an April Fool, as could be expected. I took down my site's main page and replaced the blog all with a redirect to a page called "parked.html" that looked like this:

Yup. For a while, HeyRick was domain parked by a fictitious German company.
The girl in the background (a random "free beautiful girls wallpaper") is a nod to the fact that many parked domains contain generic photographs of women who are usually either wearing a phone headset, or holding a clipboard, or in various dumb poses that looks as if they're advertising shampoo. The completely unnecessary eye-candy was this taken up to 11.
The German, by the way, is authentic. Or, at least as authentic as you're likely to get from Google Translate.

But, now, it's gone noon. Time to remove the silliness and return to the depressing post-Brexit dystopia that passes for reality.

As of February 2025, commenting is no longer available to UK residents, following the implementation of the vague and overly broad Online Safety Act. You must tick the box below to verify that you are not a UK resident, and you expressly agree if you are in fact a UK resident that you will indemnify me (Richard Murray), as well as the person maintaining my site (Rob O'Donnell), the hosting providers, and so on. It's a shitty law, complain to your MP.
It's not that I don't want to hear from my British friends, it's because your country makes stupid laws.
