awServer
awServer was written by Alan Williams
between 1989 and 1991. Apart from a few deficiencies (detailed below), this is a
reasonable attempt at emulating a FileStore. It runs as a multitasking program.
What the current release (v1.00) does not provide is:
- *LOAD and *SAVE as command-line operations
- CatHeader function call (FS function code 4)
- UID function call (FS function code 33)
This should not cause too many problems in operation.
What awServer can provide (some stuff better than SJ, never mind Acorn!):
- Up to 10 mounts
- Each mount is individual and may have it's own Passwords file
- Mounts can be on any legal filing system, in any valid directory.
- Supports parent directory references ("^") in file names.
- Full 32 bit space accounting.
- Up to 29 files may be opened by a RiscOS machine.
- Supports "&", "@", and "%" in filenames.
- Password file is compatible with FileStore.
- Supports several built-in commands - *ReadFree, *Discs, *Time, *Vers...
- Wildcards embedded in paths work correctly.
- Wildcards in disc names are supported.
