BudgieMgr release
Frankly, I don't care what you do with this software - unless you
want to rip it off, in which case I'll hit you over the head with a flatbed scanner. However I
have put a lot of time and effort into this, so if you find it or the source in any way useful
then I'd really appreciate some cash, or a pack of decent coffee, whatever... You can snailmail
me care of my friend in Wotton, Glos. (address in the archives), okay?
Well, my Econet is pretty much dead and I'm using TCP/IP over 10baseT ethernet.
This pretty much means that I do not expect to be doing any more work on BudgieMgr.
However, I have always said that people who have put a lot of time and effort into making some
software should release it to the public upon deciding to stop with the project. I stand by my
thoughts and am releasing the source(s) of BudgieMgr to the world.
As a disclaimer, I don't code like this these days and would not hold my code up as an example
of good code. It works, mostly. :-) Okay, it kinda works. When it feels like it. Preferably after
a good strong cup of Typhoo...
The package is split into three parts to allow you to download the parts that you require. The
purchase price covered all three parts, or any combination thereof.
The release version is 1.22/1.23.
Latest update to the main package: 29th June 1999
Latest update (resolver patch): 1st March 2003
- BudgieMgr v1.23 (140K)
This is the main editor program, and comes with several server inspecific utilities:
!ChangePW, !RemoteArc, CloseRXCBs, FSTime, FSTimeX, Notify, ThisStn, Users, and
WarnClose.
- FileStore utilities (48K)
This archive contains a utility designed to assist in the upkeep of the Acorn FileStore
server. The documentation includes a section on writing code to upload to the server, and
comes with several short examples. The examples are 6502 code, so need to be compiled on
a BBC micro of some form. The sources suggest !65Host, but you may get better results if
you use 65Tube instead.
Also included is a utility to read the files from a FileStore floppy disc. Please note
that it does not work - you will need to download the 'Resolver' patch at the
bottom of this page.
- MDFS utilities (50K)
This archive contains a utility designed to assist in the configuration of your MDFS
server; and a utility to assist in managing the printer queue (download also BMgrSvc).
Sadly my MDFS cooked itself (and practically every line driver on the network, even across
the SJ Bridge!). So these applications will NOT be updated. Ever. :-(
- BMgrSvc module (12K)
This is needed in order to use !SJprintQ.
It is an incomplete pre-release version of something that was developed as the direction
that the BudgieSoft Econet suite would take - however it is sufficient to get !SJprintQ
running...
- UPDATE from v1.22 to v1.23 (30K)
This is an updated !RunImage file for those of you who downloaded the earlier
release.
- BudgieMgr Source Code [v1.23] (424K)
The source...
...to: !BudgieMgr (including 'BMgrSvc' variant), !Tweak, notify (newer and older),
FSTime, ThisStn, Users, WarnClose, !ChangePW, !FSfloppy, !FSutil, !MDFSutil, and
!SJprintQ). These are sources only, you'll need to download the necessary
archives (above) for data files, templates, sprites, etc...
Have fun!
(if you plan to read FileStore disc images with !FSfloppy, download the Resolver
patch below...)
- !FSfloppy
Resolver
Source Code [v1.03] (4K)
Fixes the stupid stupid bug where all recovered files are 0 bytes in length.
O'course, if you downloaded the sources, you probably fixed this already!
To use... Open !FSfloppy (either the proper distribution or the source version) and
drop this 'Resolver' file in over top of the old one.
