What is WaxLyrical? なにですか

The "mpman" range of personal MP3 players supports a system whereby you can associate lyrics with the song that is being played, like that shown here:

While mpman supplies software that can be used to edit the lyrics files ("Mptool"), I have found it to not work correctly on my machine, and also to be lacking flexibility. As a geek, I decided the obvious solution was to write my own!
