Demonstration version

(Zip file; 1,964Kb)

How to install the demo

  1. Extract the contents of the zip file to somewhere convenient (such as C:\Temp\WSDemo)
  2. Run the Setup.exe program that you just extracted.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions...

After installation, you can delete the installation files in C:\Temp\WSDemo (or wherever).

Setting up the demo for use

  1. Run the WebScan demo.
It will ask you to read the licence, open the Help file, and it will quit.
  2. Read the licence ;^)
  3. Run the WebScan demo.
You will be taken into Setup mode. Choose your base directory (click the '?' button in the setup window for help if desired).
The WebScan demo will scan the chosen directory and generate a list of the contents. Afterwards, it will quit.
The WebScan demo is now ready!

To see it in action, alter a few of the files in your chosen directory (i.e. if documents, make a small alteration and resave) or copy in/out a few files. Run the WebScan demo again and ask it to 'Scan for changes'.

The registered version of WebScan is much faster at scanning for changes!

The 'Lite' Install

If you don't know what a 'DLL' is and how to check its version, don't read this!

If you already have the VB5 runtime components installed (you probably do, definitely so if you have my VideoList 2 or ViRadio programs installed) then you do not need to waste time and phone bills on downloading the assorted support DLLs that you already have!

Version check: You should have at least...

        MSVBVM50.dll 5.1.43.19
        StdOle2.tlb 2.20.4118.1
        OleAut32.dll 2.20.4118.1
        OlePro32.dll 5.0.4118.1
        AsycFilt.dll 2.20.4118.1
        Ctl3d32.dll 2.31.0.0
        ComCat.dll 4.71.1441.1
        ComDlg32.ocx 6.1.97.82
        ComCtl32.ocx 6.0.81.5

If so, you can download the smaller demo zip file.

Please note that "suck it and see" is not a supported option!
You could try installing it to see 'if it works', but it isn't something I have tried or something that I would advocate.
